Most people dream to have their feelings shared, revealed, or spoken out. They want to be heard and understood. That is why many resulted in writing their own blogs. They feel at ease sharing numerous things in their blogs. When other people write, they too want to write.
If you are one of the people who want to let yourself out through writing, there are a few things you need to consider. According to what I have experienced so far, and having read numerous books on good writing techniques, these are the things I would really like to share.
Writing without being read by others is basically useless. Long ago, writers were not sure about whether their writings are read by people. But, with blogging, you can actually know whether whatever you are writing is read by people. To be a writer, you have to make sure that you apply all these things, or at least some of these.
Read
You can never be a good blogger or writer if you don't read books, newspapers or articles. You have to expose yourself with a lot of reading materials to be able to write well.
Determine your objective
What are your intentions of writing?
Why are you writing?
What is the underlying message that you are trying to convey?
Who are your target readers?
Find your own answers and objectives before you start writing.
Be honest
Sometimes, bloggers love to write things which they usually adapt or copied elsewhere. Just be honest and write on your own. If you don't have anything to share, hold on. Do not copy others' intellectual properties. If you really want to share something good, make sure you give a token of appreciation by citing down the name of the original author.
Be completely in control
Being a blogger, you just have to be careful. Whatever you are writing will possibly be read by millions of people; your colleagues, friends and even employers. Be in control. Don't share or reveal so much of your anger or dissatisfaction. Emotion is a good thing until you over-react!
Be yourself!
You should never try to imitate other bloggers or writers. Just be yourself, and write within your own capacities and capabilities, with your own style. There's no identical writer in the world. Believe in your own uniqueness. When you get used to writing, you'll be able to find your own style and genre.
Be versatile
If you really want to be a good writer, be versatile. Do not write something similar all the time. Be versatile by finding something new and put it in your own way. If you like to write about yourself, do not write it over and over again. If you like certain topics, be creative to talk about them in your own perspective. Being different and versatile will maintain the readers to keep coming to read your blog!
Spelling, font and grammar
Some writers like to write with different font types. They want to be special. Therefore it is not advisable to always change the font type, particularly the one that is hard to read. Mind your spelling and grammar as well. If you are not sure, ever heard of Google? Google, then, if you are not sure! A piece of nice writing is an art. The art of writing is being able to draw your words beautifully, and correctly!
Take it slow!!
There's no need to try to write about everything under the sun! You can never be sure what you're missing out on. Take time to write and think over it well. Find as much information you can before you begin to write. Do not write rubbish. This will just steer your readers away.
So, this is Tia Fatihah writing on How To Be A Real Writer
in my blog Tia Fatihah Menulis.
- I read a lot,
- I do not copy anything from anywhere,
- I am completely honest in my writing,
- I do not reveal so much of my emotions particularly bad emotions,
- I use appropriate language and font,
- I write in my own perspectives,
- I have found my own writing style and genre,
- I write within my capacities and capabilities,
- I never find myself wanting to rush in my writing,
- I have my own objectives of writing.
Whatever you are writing, you are actually telling the readers who exactly you are.
